My Giants lost their playoff game,after a disappointing second half,I should be content they even made the playoffs,it was a heart breaker but it was an easy lost to take compared to most of their loses this past season!
So it just leaves me to wait and see if my Leafs can hold up and make the playoffs and off course the Raptors.Being realistic I doubt very much if the Leafs or Raptors can win their respective Championships,but for now I am shooting for playoff spots and of course further disappointment!

It's been a rough month for my sport teams, Maple Leafs seventh straight loss last nite, this not so surprising as the Leafs seem to be photocopying last season, descent start, Sundin goes down, they hold their own, Sundin returns team goes on losing streak!

But what a gut wrenching last two weekends watching the Giants consistently blow games they should of and could of won! I was not too pleasant to be around right after those losses, it was sickening to watch especially up 21 zip and losing the game in the fourth quarter, which could of been avoided by completing a couple of plays!

I have been a Giant fan all my life, after last weeks lost to the Cowboys I had given up hope and pretty much written them off, but after todays game and considering the teams they have to face in their final three games maybe Santa can grant me the next three Sundays in front of my TV as pleasant ones and not turn me into a grouchy Archie Bunker!

First game of playoffs last nite for Canadians. I am not a Canadians fan, as a matter of fact I can't stand them! Within the first two minutes I am sure I was not alone in my thinking, blowout Hurricanes are going to massacre them!

But one thing this year about the Canadians I do like is Cristobal Huet, you have to give credit where credit is due, this guy is cool, calm, and collective. It is hard to rattle his cage, the game may of finished 6 to 1 for the Canadians, easy game you say, it could of finished 7 to 6 Hurricanes. Without Huet the Canadians would not of made the playoffs!

And if they make any kind of run at it, it will have alot to do with Huet, man why couldn't the Leafs have had him. Belfour (moneypit) Huet deserves one hell of a raise and I'd like to see him get it.

BowFlex

I own a bowflex,is it all that, I have to say no!I have worked out a fair bit since the age of 13,mostly with free weights.I bought a bowflex because it is convient and does not take up much space and the wife said the weights have to go,no room in the house! So I have a platform with a bench and about 300 pounds of weights that I use in the summer in the back yard!
Do I use my bowflex,yes, winter only, use the outdoor weights in the summer. I am not putting down the bowflex don't get me wrong, it is just not for me, I don't get the same burn or pump as I do with free weights.
For someone who wants to firm up and has never really experienced free weights by all means bowflex is for you, but if you mostly are weight trained you may be disappointed with the feel of the bowflex.

Winter is tough enough!

When one installs a heat pump one has to take in many considerations,concerning the client and considering future service and maintenance! But most installers just don't get it, their attitude is get this job done,once they are gone they never have to deal with the consequences of a poorly placed unit. The client usually decides where he would like his unit to go,it is up to the installer to give the client the pros and cons of his choice,unfortunally most do not,but they will try to convince the client otherwise if the clients choice makes thier installation difficult.

As for service again they don`t really care,once done they never return. The above job was installed in the summer,an akward stance but do able because naturally your footing in not too bad. Now imagine my dilema now that I have to service this unit with ice as my footing, the ice being there because a heat pump defrosts itself anywhere from 8 to 12 times a day thus draining water on a sloped service at below zero temperatures, Duh!!! A good considerate installer is one who has service experience!

Don't get me wrong I am not complaining, I like most people am very happy to have had a mild winter thusfar. The problem is I am a believer that it can't also go as one would like, so either we 'll be thrown in the deep freeze for the better part of February, or kiss a nice summer down the drain, I really don't think we can have both! But that's just me!

Ten years ago, winter was winter, summer was summer,today things are all out of wack!Even the sceptics have to agree a week of March like temperatures in January is not the norm.Was able to wash my truck with no chill or discomfort,a very pleasant day. Are we really going to pay for it later and I don't mean next month, I have to believe we are doing something that is affecting our planet, I mean the proof is all too evident!

What a Difference A Day Makes!

After freezing in below -15 degrees, we are now being bombarded with one of the quickest accumulation snowfalls. This type of storm brings back memories of winter in Murdochville! Traffic is pretty much stopped thru out most of Montreal, streets probably won't be plowed till late evening making getting around quite the task. One of the hottest days I have ever experienced

Yesterday when I got home from work ,my neighbor knowing that I work in the field asked if I had a good thermometer to verify the exterior temp, she said her digital thermometer was reading 37 degrees C.She realised it was hot but didn't think it to be right, sure enough I was glad to prove her thermometer fairly accurate as my digital tester gave a reading of 97 degrees F! The water in my pool was a balmy 90 degrees F.
I have to say that yesterday had to be one of the hottest I have ever experienced thank God for air conditioning!

Teachers protesting in Chateauguay
Lately everybody in the education system is protesting and on strike, on three occasions they have invaded Chateaugauy protesting at the minister of education's office.Since his office is situated central to Chateauguay,everyone and the traffic is disrupted.For those of us who are not unionised and don't have the luxury of being able to mass protest for more wages and benefits,but are affected by these protests and trying to go about our workday tend to get very frustrated and unsympithetic towards these type of demonstrations!
Teachers out,students out, we are heading for a GENERATION OF IDIOTS, nobody wants to stay in school and learn,there is no perfect solution but a lost school year and another year of dummies!

Old Vinyl
Well after years of looking at the old stack of records I have in my home office,I am finally doing something with them. I dug out my old turntable and am digitizing my favorite tracks from the old LPs, some tracks will be burnt to cd and some converted to MP3,after that I'll have to do the same with all the old cassettes I have.
It is a little time consuming but worthwhile and totally legal since I own the LPs.It is amazing how music can trigger certain memories and take one back in time, I played songs I haven't heard in 15 years,with some songs it can be a certain event , or a certain person from your past,some memories good some bad! But the end result is always the same, Goddam I 'm getting old!

My dentist good technician or rich man!
My first trip to the dentist in about 30 years! It was a no brainer my broken tooth looked pretty nasty had to be done. When I went for my appointment I never thought I would be leaving there with a new tooth! I figured he would pull it and I'd have to get a partial, but in no more than1.5 hours I had a root canal a new tooth and a bad filling redone!
I am up on technology understand computers pretty well, but boy was I ever ignorant on how much medical technology has developed, I remember my brother had to get a root canal and fix a broken tooth, it seems to me he had to make 5/6 visits to the dentist before it was all done.I was very impressed on the quickness and the end result, not so much with the bill, no wonder he drives a mercedes and has hot young dental assistants working there, that was an added perk for me but for the money it cost me she could of at least given me a lap dance!
Other than the cost I have to say I am very pleased with the work done by my dentist and his staff, now if I can win the 6/49 I may be able to pay for the crown he recommends I have done on my repaired tooth.

I am not a dirty person although one may think so by the way I keep my face! I hate shaving, for one I have sensitive skin so a close blade shave really irritates my skin, so when I do shave which isn't often I use a trimmer and always leave a little scruff.Shaving is also time consuming, come morning I am looking forward to my start of the day bowl movement,no time to waste shaving, besides I don't hear the wive complaining I left a mess in the sink.
So bear in mind although I may look dirty and more than likely have dirty thoughts I am rather quite clean, believe me, this for me is not a look or style I am trying for, those of you who know me well, know that I couldn't give a rats ass about how I look! Between my unshaven face never combed hair and frequent ballcap hat hair, I am clean just don't really care about how I look, I never was a model and never will be. As popeye would say Iam what I am!

Maybe it's the recent mild temperatures we have been experiencing lately or just wishful thinking on my part! But I do feel and notice as the sun gets stronger and as the days get longer and with the start of all the curling on tsn and cbc that spring is not far. Even golf is starting to appear on tv every weekend, let us hope the worst of the cold is over. I do expect a few more good dumpings of snow but relief is not that far off!

My sister who lives in Nova Scotia sent me this pic from after one of the three storms they've had in the last eight days.
Here in the Montreal area it has been very cold the last week or so and I have been complaining about how much I hate winter, maybe I should shut my piehole because I see it can very easily get worst than just being cold!

I have seen it rain before,but tonite I witnessed a full feldge summer time down pour on December 23.It was raining so hard I could not see the neighbors house accross the street!To top it off the temp is suppose to drop to -15 overnite,only in Quebec!It was looking pretty wintery, now more spring like.

My New LG flip phone
Finally got a cell phone I am happy with.I think flip phones are the way to go, my old phone was not a flip but a small barbie phone, where the ear piece fit the ear while the mouth piece just barely reached the earlobe.You also needed barbie like fingers to dial. Small is ok as long as it is functional, so to all new phone buyers go flip.

Good Old Time Hockey
When I was young the place to be on a Sunday afternoon during the winter was the arena. It was good old time hockey, no salary caps,no greedy m oney hungry players, it was a bunch of guys playing for their town, putting on a good show,for no money, but for team and town! To all us young aspiring hockey players these guys were our heros.I had an added bonus,my dad and uncle were on the big team! Thanks for the memories!

How Much Trouble Can One Picture Start

Believe it or not this one picture caused some uneasyness and uncertainty to certain people. Without going into detail, this harmless pic which was emailed to a family member as a joke causing some uneasy feelings.
Once explained ,things were all settled and we had a good chuckle! The problem is that we are easily tricked into seeing one thing when steered in another direction.We look at something and the first thing we do is assume, who is that girl,what is she doing with Jimmy,that looks like it is in Jimmy`s house,Where was Eleonore, and so on,yada,yada,yada!
Relax people Jimmy didn`t do anything he wasn`t suppose to,this is not as it seems!
Remember the next time you assume things,and are ready to confront someone get your facts straight, because there are always two sides to a story.The one you see and the actual truth.

Road To Gaspe

Travelling to Gaspe or vice versa from Murdoch is no picnic during the winter,so we can only imagine what it was like in the early years.Today we have new tech winter tires,paved roads,but there is still one constant the bloody weather! It can be as stormy as hell in Murdoch but once you got about 20 miles towards Gaspe the skies always seemed to clear.Altitude,altitude,altitude!
Anyway to get to my point for those of you travelling the Gaspe road this winter be carefull and be prepared for anything weather wise!

Goddam I love my truck

This is my second pickup from GM. I basically use it as my principal work vehicle. Nothing too heavy duty, but there is constantly a 6 to 7 hundred pound load in the box at all times.I have had pretty much a problem free four years, other than one incident on my previous truck when on my way to Murdoch I lost the alternator. I lost it and went into a long rant of curses, just ask my brother Joey who was with me. But fortunately we were able to make a GM garage, and after a little white lie to the service manager,we were in and out, maybe losing 45 minutes max.

So really I had one problem, ended up with quick and good service! I would recommend the GM pickup no hesitation.I was in doing maintenance and took a look at some of the 2005 models. Man the 4x4 crewcab fully loaded is a beaut! So is the price tag.The one I checked out had a sticker price of 47,000.00! Nice to dream, there`s always the 6-49!

no NHL who cares You know I am not missing the hockey as much as I thought I would! Granted I still got my football, if I need a hockey fix, we got the semipro league going on, good hockey , good fights, cheap beer and junk food, I can take it over, the over priced hockey at the Bell Center anyday.I can`t believe how the NHL players can hurt so many small people affected by the walkout, all the part time and full time jobs lost because of this!It maybe small time to the millionaire players, but the difference between a nice Xmas and a crappy Xmas to those people affected. And not any type of apology or even acknowlegement that they feel bad for the little guy! Instead they are chasing more money in Europe!
Maybe after the Super Bowl I might start missing it,but my anger towards the players is going to take awhile.I know there are two sides to this dispute, but I got to side with the owners.Still got extreme dodgeball on the dish!

Well as you can see we have no snow yet! Was talking to my brother over weekend In Murdoch, he said he has had to use his snowblower 3 times already. Location,location,location! Growing up in Murdoch we had to bear some awful winters, but back then we had every type of winter activity outdoor as well as indoor.We had indoor hockey, bowling ,curling, legion, ski hill, who the hell cared what the winter had to throw at us.Growing up, winter never bothered us, growing old well that`s a different story! We may of had some shitty winters, but we were also in a winter wonderland!Today it is a little tougher, some of the services are still there but a lack of population, and a lack of enthusium, due to the present situation can really make a bad winter a tough winter, so bro, hang in there 7 more months to go!

Believe this or not,but we only had one kid come to the door trick or treating.We live at the end of a street where once kids get there they have no choice but to go back the same way they came.Plus the two neighbors in front of us had no lights on,this happens every year,except this year even the neighbor on side of us had the lights off,add the fact it was pouring rain resulted in one trick or treater!We usually average 15, imagine our first Halloween not knowing what to expect we were prepared for at least 80 of those little monsters, ended up with about 60 bags of sweets left over. So naturally we learned and adjusted our expectations and prepared ourselves for the norm,this was a shocker ,going to be eating junk for the next week!

I was born in Murdochville,I considered myself fortunate to have been raised in what I considered a great little town.We had the backing of the mine,the all powerful, just one of Noranda`s many holdings.We had a hockey rink,indoor pool,bowling,curling,softball park all provided for by the mine for the hard working population that relied on the employment the mine provided.

As with all facts of life,things change,and not always for the good.And with Murdochville and it`s loyal population it was like a knife in the back.Today things are only a shell of what they were when I grew up there.Every trip home sadens me more and more,to me it is Murdochville in name alone,it is far from what I called home.
